A funeral at St. Wilfrids, is a time to give thanks for a life,
to commend a loved one into God’s care, and to find comfort
and hope in the promise of Jesus’ resurrection
At St. Wilfrid’s, we are here to walk alongside you through this difficult time, to offer support, prayer and a place where you can honour and give thanks for a life that mattered deeply.
A funeral service is more than a farewell. It is a moment to share stories, celebrate memories and entrust a loved one to God’s care. Whether the service takes place in church, at the crematorium, or by the graveside, our ministry team will walk with you, and your funeral director, to shape a service that reflects the person you’re remembering and brings comfort to those who mourn.
You are NOT Alone
From the moment you get in touch our Ministry team will support you. We can help you plan the service, choose readings and music and create a space where family and friends can gather in remembrance and hope.
Our care goes beyond the funeral service itself for you are always welcome to speak to us, have a visit from us, join us in our annual Time to Remember service or come to our bereavement group in the weeks, months and years to come
Planning the Service
Your funeral director will usually contact us on your behalf to begine the arrangements.
Together, we’ll plan the details of the service, from music and prayers to tributes and moments of silence.
Every life has value and we will try to do all we can to ensure that the service feels personal and meaningful
Faith and Hope

A Christian funeral holds peace for grief while also pointing towards hope.
The hope of resurrection and the promise that love is stronger than death
Whether faith has been central to your loved one’s life or something they explored quietly, we honour their journey and a service rooted in compassion and God’s love
