We held Community Coffee Cup’s 3rd Birthday at Westbrook Hall on February 11th, 2017, and were fortunate to have The Mayor of Havant, Councillor Faith Ponsonby to help us celebrate along with The Deputy Mayor, Councillor Elaine Shimbart and her husband, Councillor Gerry Shimbart.

Despite the awful weather some 50 people came along and there was a real buzz to the hall with people enjoying the refreshments and chat with children having fun playing with the games and toys.

It was great to have the Junior Branch of Horndean Camera Club with us clicking away and asking questions. The Mayor was especially pleased to see them, and spent time posing for photographs from the paparazzi. She later cut the birthday cakes with the help of Monika, who is one of our youngest regular visitors to Coffee Cup.

The Mayor said how delighted she was to see the church providing ventures such as Coffee Cup for the Community, every Saturday morning, where refreshments are free and children welcomed to come and play with the toys.  She further said she hoped to drop in herself on a more informal occasion after her Mayoral term has come to an end in April.

The Deputy Mayor and her husband said they would love to come back and help us celebrate our 4th birthday next year when Elaine will be Mayor…. a date for all our diaries.

Meanwhile do drop in one Saturday morning, between 10 and 12, and discover a warm welcome for yourself, whatever your age and whatever the weather outside.
